My name is John Birrenbach, owner of John Birrenbach Consulting. I have been involved with marketing in one form (retail, wholesale, internet) or another since around 1985. Early on my love of computers and use of the internet, even before the WWW, I found ways to use the internet to market products, services and ideas. How life has changed and with it the way in which we market our products, services or ideas to the world.
I have worked with a large number of companies, people, organizations, public and developed a variety of ways in which to use the internet to make money, solve problems, and bring public awareness of issues. One of my more successful campaigns was the work I did for the Jesse Ventura Campaign. Being a avid supporter and friend of Jesse, I worked the net like there was no tomorrow. Through the work I did we laid the foundation for not only a revolution in the use of the Internet for Political campaigns but also the future of net forever. WE SHOCKED THE WORLD. I was the one who recorded that clip and had it posted to the net before any of the Major News Media. It is little known but it was his running mate Mae Shunk who spoke these words after Jesse Ventura had a very successful debate against future Senator Norm Coleman (then Mayor of St Paul Minnesota) and Attorney General Skip Humphrey, a name not unkown or respected in Minnesota.
I have worked on other campaigns as well. From City Council to the Governors office I have been an invaluable resource. Not all the campaigns I have worked on have been victorious but I have helped someone get elected to City Council of St Paul, Legislature, and the Governor of the State of Minnesota. I have worked for these campaigns in a variety of positions from Volunteer in charge of IT (Internet Technologies) to Campaign Manager. My most valuable contribution has been in the use of Computer Technology to target areas where a campaign needs to focus and in how to use the Internet to it’s fullest potential.
In addition to working for campaigns I also own several On-line companies. One for Gourmet Coffee called Coffee-n-Caffeine. This site started after 2 decades of helping run and market a retail coffeeshop in which I was a part owner. This site offers some of the finest gourmet coffees available and also one of the largest selection of Flavored Coffees available on the internet (with more being added every month or so). I made lots of mistakes on how to market this new venture of mine before I ran into the right methods and now (2008) the site sells around $4,000 worth of coffee each year, and continues to grow (check here for update). The mistakes I made and what I learned about the differences between working on issues and campaigns are mistakes that by following this blog and reading what I put up you will be able to avoid.
